Again the thread seems to be confused. Now it would appear to be about denial laws. Amaral, put yourself in the mind of someone new to your research. On reading a confused thread like this, they may not glean any understanding at all with all the toing and froing. It's like random number hop skotch! I suggest starting threads in relevant sections on the individual topics and linking to threads you deem related in the op. That would certainly help your points to come across and enable reasoned debate.

I hope you apply the same level of criticism about on/off topic to all threads on SZ because some people might think you are nit picking.

You don't have to read this thread.

It's just a general discussion.

Personally I would remove the denial laws - make freely available all documents and evidence related to the time from both sides and leave those who wish to discuss it to it - anyone using the holocaust as a platform to spread hate should still be pulled up as such - give people the opportunity to challenge those who are unable to talk about such subjects with sensitivity and honesty - people power rather then political enforcement.

That's great.

The more information, the more discussion, the more forensic investigation the better.

I'm all for it,

Sadly many people are not and have engineered it so that it is impossible to do just that.

For instance, the question of the holes in the roof of Krema II could be easily resolved with an open honest forensic investigation of the existing remains of the roof.

Holocaust experts in court have admitted that the holes are no longer there and that the Germans before they blew up the building very cleverly made them look like they had never been there in the first place.

They could all be resolved.

Very easily.

I'm sure the German people would be very interested in the results.

You suggest proliferating threads.

I'm pretty sure others are against that.

novum was thinking about it.

There's nothing wrong with this one for now.

A lot could be resolved with a little honest and open debate - the problem arises when people ( and to be clear I am not suggesting you are one of them) use subjects as a platform for divisive and hateful agendas - that is the fear - and imho a justified fear - that people have about honest and open discussions - the path of good intentions and all that - there is no fairness when participating in something if all sides are not coming at it with the most basic of ideals in common - even if they take polar opposite sides there has to be that base level of respect, honesty and openness to get anywhere - that honesty includes being upfront about ones prejudices and agenda - which in turn takes a huge amount of self awareness.

It's not really what I'm suggesting. I'm not saying start two threads in general to talk about the holocaust/denial laws/the current Israeli state etc :P . I'm suggesting starting one thread on each of the areas you feel relevant and linking to them all in those threads. Then it would be easy for you and everyone else to keep track with what is being discussed. At the moment your threads are going a bit like the infamous chat with Sean. As in they are all over the place and going nowhere as a result.
This is counterproductive imho

OK so ...

Do you really need to ask?

People are IN PRISON because of thought crimes on the Holocaust.

At the very least they would be released.

A worthy goal?
yeah ok, the denial law is total bullshit, agreed.

but even if 911 inside job would be proven or holocaust not happened, fuck all would change.

look around, see how people are, nothing will change.

nthing will change ever in a way to please everyone.

If your normal outlook is "what's the point nothing will change" why are you even here?

So you keep saying.

So far so good though.

Anyway it's great you agree it should be discussed.

dubmeup,

Maybe more threads will happen later, for now this is OK as a general talking shop.

Stay cool, everything is OK.

I'm glad you think I'm "cool" :)

I disagree though. I don't think it's ok. I think that you are deliberately trying to keep this thread as a loose "general" discussion for a reason. That being that you don't want to see it take place somewhere like the history section or the political manipulation section.
As a result what is happening is that the general section here has a vague air of familiarity since you signed up.
Why would you wish that to be the case? If you don't you will most likely see the sense of what I am suggesting and start individual threads to discuss individual topics in the relevant sections.
Yes ALL threads wander a bit. Here most of them invariably have bouts of light hearted banter strewn across them. But this is not what I see happening in the two threads you've started in this section.

Ah, ok so you want Holocaust threads moving to a less visible part of the forum.

I see.

I thought you were interested in real debate for a minute.

Why not just let it be? No one is forcing to you read or post in it.

Actually I don't get it. Why is it a problem that it's in the general discussion thread?

its still in general.

some will say they believ the story, some will say something doesnt add up some will straight up deny it for whatever reason.

have you tried to step into a real ring with tough opponents on this matter, like the jref forum?

do that, and post a link, im sure many here would gladly follow that

In fact dubmeup, I'm puzzled as to why you are not complaining that the "Christine Lagardes Fairytale World" thread is not in the "Finance and Banking" section.

The history section will always be "less viable" if people choose to post historical threads in the general section rather than there.
So you yourself are making it "less viable" :P
You're rather too transparent to be any good at what you are attempting I'm sad to say.
Thought crime? Pfft

the jref forum has an immense amount of info there from both sides - reading the holocaust 1 and 2 threads took days particularly following the links etc - was really interesting.
