Someone close to me accused me of being atheist once. It bothered me at first because i thought she knew me well enough. I am not religious, never have been. I do follow a spiritual path just as anyone else. There isn't really a label or name for the things I believe in but then again, there are many many names. I love taking wisdom from a variety of sources and compiling them together to live by sometimes.

Its so easy for people to pass judgment and label others, so don't worry and be comfortable being you. I find that some religious types are quick to condemn without looking at themselves.

As far as the Christian mentality, I can surely identify! I grew up in the Bible Belt of the USA.

I was born, raised and lived most of my life in what has been called the Buckle of the Bible Belt. So I can also bear witness to the fact that it's rough coming up with that shit in your face 24/7/365!! Pentecostal Christianity is some serious, whacked out shizz y'all, I kid nobody!! And the Southern Baptists ain't no better!!

Freak show on parade fuh' rillio.... :nilly:

*EDIT*

Where did those division signs in between the numbers come from? I used back-slashes! :aargh: :hahano:

Pentecostals! :hide:

Not sure of the denomination, but my Granny speaks in tongues and it is the fucking freakiest sounding shit I've ever heard! She's sweet and all, just a major Holy Roller! Kinda worked out for me, though- my Dad was so traumatized by her weirdo Christian tent revivals that we never attended church. :)

That's what miffed me the most about this whole thing, actually. This person isn't what I'd particularly describe as 'religious'. I'd even go so far as to say she's a bit of a slapper (and no, it wasn't sketters).

It just seems folks over here have got a bit caught up in the Jubilee thing, which I can understand (but not forgive). :chuckle:

Were I at all skeptical, I might suggest that this is kind of the intention behind such events, in addition to the 'having fun' aspect that everyone finds appealing. You're basically worshipping one person, whether or not you admit it, which could be construed as "I consent to my servitude, please continue to rule me".

Me no understand. :dunno:

But I utterly respect the individual's right to do so.

When I read about this Jubilee thing yesterday, I had no clue what it was. Last night, I was looking to see if anything worth watching was on. Whoopie! Katie Couric and the Jubilee was on! WTF? I don't get why American's(or Brits) give a shit about the Royales(or any celebrities/elite for that matter). And I agree there is more to this than just having a celebration for the Crypt Keeper- er, um...her Majesty! :goodbad: Otherwise, why is the shit being broadcast in the States. I wonder where else it was being beamed.

I didn't stay tuned in long but was cracking up @ the auto-tuned Will-i-am performance! :roflha:

Why is he Will-i-am and not just William?

Not quite the same thing but that used to bug me about Colin Powell too. See, in England, if your name was spelled like that, you'd be called "Col-lin", as in Joan Collins. :dunno:

Not that Will-i-am and old Colin are at all alike.

Cuz he's a douchebag!

Now, I don't know much about the Queen but isn't he an odd choice for her party?

I really don't know anything about his 'music', so couldn't actually form any kind of judgement on that. I think pretty much anything goes at these events though, particular if it's an artist or performer who could lend some credence to the event to the younger generation. It's all about PR, dontcha know?

Atheist is commonly regarded as a negative/evil term.

It really means a-theist or without theism/religion, which can be an insult in of itself if intended or taken as such.

Personally, if this place was nasty, like some others, I would not continue drifting back in.

My dear Abs, I do not think you're evil or whatever.
