He's this super scary demon-dude that hangs with Santa and scares all the little spoiled brats into being good! :P

We don't have it here but I heard about it last year when some local performers put on a show about him.

I think it's a German thing, actually.

Actually in Finnish tradition there's a creature called Kekripukki, Kekri = christmas/midwinterparty, and pukki means a goat. He's bit like Krampus actually, visits every house at midwintersnight, people must keep him on good mood, offer him food and drinks and stuff, if Kekripukki gets pissed off, it's not going to be fun. :D It can make a mess... Burn the house for example.

Young men used to dress up as Kekripukki at midwinter, cause some trouble and have fun, get free food and stuff at old times... Although this tradition has died long ago.

I have just been accused of being an atheist. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I just don't choose to define myself as such.

When I asked how they came to this conclusion, they responded by explaining that as I do not celebrate Christmas, which is Jesus' birthday, Jesus being God/the son of, I must therefore be an atheist.

Where do they grow these fekkin people?

This all came about because they asked me what I "did" for the Jubilee, and were for some reason quite offended when I responded "sod all". Apparently, this means I have no respect for the Queen because she is the head of 'da church'/appointed by the big G to rule over us and therefore anathema to me.

Piss off.

They grow lots of them in the southern United States! Lol! I feel a wee bit better knowing it's a global problem...wait-actually, that makes me feel worse! Nowhere to run- nowhere to hide! :hide:
I'm so glad my family didn't attend church even though the school kids would pick on me about it & call me a Devil worshiper! Funny thing; I once told a girl I knew that I was Agnostic(she asked), she told some people I was Atheist and the next thing I hear is I am a Satanist. Agnostic=Atheist=Satanist. She thought they were all the same thing.

Sorry to read that, K and welcome!

It usually doesn't get that far and I just get called miserable or something, but people seem to be getting less polite about these things. :dunno:

It's bizarre really. Why are people so arsed? Well actually they're arsed because by not believeing in their belief system, you're threatening their belief system :D And people don't like their belief sytem threatened because it's easy and handy to keep believing. They don't want pesky questions about existence, etc. They just want to live out their lives in blissful ignorance and stuff :D

I'm fuggy today :emb:

It's funny how we get reactions for things like this that aren't even religiously related. No one seems to care that I don't celebrate Christian holidays here, but I may as well be eating faces under a bridge when I say I don't watch The super bowl. "You didn't watch it?!"

I was trying to display my distaste for all things Jubilee...and well you know it.

These little gems are actually on sale here in the UK.
