I have just been accused of being an atheist. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I just don't choose to define myself as such.

When I asked how they came to this conclusion, they responded by explaining that as I do not celebrate Christmas, which is Jesus' birthday, Jesus being God/the son of, I must therefore be an atheist.

Where do they grow these fekkin people?

This all came about because they asked me what I "did" for the Jubilee, and were for some reason quite offended when I responded "sod all". Apparently, this means I have no respect for the Queen because she is the head of 'da church'/appointed by the big G to rule over us and therefore anathema to me.

Piss off.

Ab my good man, I've come to this conclusion.

Most people suck. And most of the people that suck, suck pretty freakin bad!

The ones that are left are the ones you should try to keep in the company of, for obvious reasons. ;)

This has been an unpaid public service announcement from the anti-Jubilee World Committee. Thank you, and goodnight!

Thank you phem.

I know this, which is why I have very few 'friends'. It never ceases to amaze me however, just how arsey people can get with me over these things. The Christmas thing is HUGE to some people, so last year I just shut myself away until it was over. I wasn't proclaiming that everyone who celebrated the Jubilee is an arse-feeding moron, by any means. Neither did I imply that they may possibly, unwittingly, be taking part in some mass-ritual. I simply answered the question "what did you do"?

This has only served to foster further hatred between myself and 'the humans'. :scotty:

Sorry to hear you've come up against some half-wits, abs! People don't seem to realise that it's not incumbent upon Christians or indeed anyone else to celebrate Christmas - it's a festival instituted by man, and is nowhere to be found in the Bible. As I'm sure everyone on this Forum is perfectly well aware, we have no idea when Jesus was born. Having said that, I've nothing against Christmas - it's very enjoyable and something to look forward to in the long winter months!

Although I'm a Christian myself, I do not call everyone who does not share my faith an "atheist", and indeed have no problems with people who for whatever reason simply don't believe in God.

I sort of celebrate christmess, but for me it's about Finnish tradition of celebrating midwinter, not the fekkin commercial jesus garbage..

And about the atheistremarks, it's sort of "if you're not one of us, you're one of them" mentality that some people have about these things. I have run into this kind of attitude many times when discussing(or trying to) with fanatic christians. If it's not white, it's black.. Kepp it simple stupid and so on..

yeah, atheistm is like a religion by now itself.
they say god cant possibly exist.

thats not very smart to say, because there is obviously a creating force that existed/exists.all the universe etc has been create by something, whatever it is.

so its best to say "i dont know, maybe there is something".

however, the bible, whom i read in prison, is full of stories where people just made up stuff.

maybe its a metaphor etc.

I would call myself an atheist - I also celebrate christmas - christmas for me is a time for family and friends, and due to the constraints placed on people with jobs and distance it is one of the few times of the year when everyone can get together and share quality time - I also am a bit of a monarchist on the sly (sorry all) well I say monarchist it is more that I appreciate the history of the monarchy and believe that those born into such a role are as much slaves as I am - their cage is just far more gilded then mine. so yeah in conclusion celebrating the jubilee and christmas does not a christian make - nor does not celebrating them an atheist make - I would imagine that being a christian is about far more then a few rituals and celebrations and is more about a personal and individual relationship with god and belief/interpretation of christian teachings/values.

That said, many of us are born to a religion etc and go to church sometimes still (for weddings and funerals) i always be polite to church employees

Just to be clear, I judge no-one (cept sketters).

I don't care what you worship or do in the name of something you have a faith, belief or interest in. Whatsoever. I only wish the same attitude could be taken with me, sometimes.

Thanks all for your responses so far. Am feeling a bit better about things, but from now on I'm just going to keep my mouth shut and when asked the question, I shall say I did something patriotic like knit flags...or summat.

I shall have to get a bit more creative when/if they ask me to go and fight for the rancid old scrote though. I was hoping that's when I could use my 'homosexual' trump card, but even that's gone for a burton now. Maybe I'll become a eunach or something... :fraid:

If I had to label myself, I'd say I'm agnostic also... Kinda on the same lines as Novum, so that makes two horus worshippers I guess. :chuckle:

Oh, funny thing is, from a black & white christian point of view, I have most often heard that either I'm atheist or that I worship satan. Take your pick, I go for the devil(*) if I must pick one.

i think we create our own realities, and we are part of the beginning of creation, the end of it, and inextricably linked with each other and everything else so we're all creators and gods ourselves.
at least thats how i feel now and it might change.
so whatever that is.
also, hail satan.
