Hi, all! I expect that many of you will remember the infamous "What's your favourite biscuit to go with your cuppa?" thread over on the DIF (started by dontdrinkurmilk - BTW, has anyone thought of inviting him here?!). So I thought (encouraged by dubs!), that I would start one here!

So 'fess up, peeps - what yummy biccies get your digestive juices flowing? And conversely, are there any that make you feel ill merely thinking about them? Don't be shy! Tell us all! And we could also discuss that most delicate of questions - when does a biccie become more of a cake?

My biccie heaven includes: chocolate Hob-Nobs, Penguins, Mint Viscounts, custard creams, bourbons - the list is endless!

My biccie hell would be largely consisting of Garibaldis!

+1 on the Garibaldis. Evil fly filled shite sent from the underworld to churn guts up.

My all time favourite is the Fox's Crinkle Crunch but I am also partial to, Rich Tea, Digestives, Custard Creams, Jam rings, Jammy D's, Viscount, Shortbread, Rocky bars, Party rings (ooo the e numbers), Malted milk, Sports biscuits, and numerous others.

The official dub sanctioned distinction twixt cake and biscwit is thus.
A biscuit goes soft when exposed to the air.
A cake goes hard when exposed to the air.

Sorry if I offended you by my endorsement of bourbons! Glad that you and I are on the same page re garibaldis, though! I definitely do NOT recommend them to my fellow sufferers of IBS!

And your description of the distinction between cake & biskwit makes a great deal of sense!

This is how I see it. The short bit is silly. You could literally make them any height (well the size of your oven would limit it of course).
The bread bit is similarly daft. I've toasted some shortbread before and it just caught fire. We had to nip to Argos and spend £3.27 on a new toaster. That made it a very expensive mistake. It definitely isn't bread, No doubt I could have sued but I don't roll with all that Yankeee blame culture shizzle.

I think Jolly decent but rather plain biscuit would be a better and more descriptive name for them.

I used to think chocolate digestives were posh ....although the digestive bit on a chocolate digestive is not the same as a ordinary digestive...confusing.

I love a bit of butter on a digestive Well, it was mostly St Ivel Gold, which is margerine, but that's what I had to mostly make do with as a kid. Still very tasty though

I can't really pick a favourite biscwit...it's too hard a choice to make. I like...all of them...yeah I'd say there's not one biscwit I wouldn't eat. I'm a biscwit whore Again, some of you already know this but for the peeps who don't know, y'know, no surprises, etc

The biscwit war is indeed over, and we should all live in peace now. Yes I have unusual "tastes" that might not be everyone's cup of tea, but that's no reason for conflict. Live and let live, that's what I say, in peace and harmony And that even goes for Jaffa Cakes too...it's a stretch, granted.
