OK, I'm feeling particularly lazy right now, so I wondered if you lot wouldn't mind summing this one up for our readers, conspiratorial-wise, like.

Cheers

These Ministers are getting particularly tetchy about any comments against the decision, eh?

Banks have totally taken over the society.

Consequently the government is fucked.

They've got absolutely no chance whatsoever of breaking even let alone paying any of their trillions in debt back.

This means they can justify selling stuff off to 'save money'.

The Tories love doing this anyway at the best of times as they usually attempt to privatise anything that isn't nailed down.

It's a great opportunity as well for their cronies in the banking sector to take control of another asset. A lot of Royal Mail will now be owned by hedge funds and private equity.

All the stuff in the news about Royal Mail being undervalued by the government, etc, because the share price has shot up today is a totally meaningless red herring, as the stock market value of a company is completely arbitrary and often has little or nothing to do with the company itself. It's all based on trading, and actually the majority of trading is even done by computers now with no human input at all.

It's a classic example of what the Artist Taxi Driver talks about all the time - "the moving of public money to private pockets".

Meanwhile, the government will still take tax straight out of your wages, while trillion dollar banks do everything possible to avoid paying tax, and get the public to bail them out when they fuck up / engage in massive fraud / both (delete as applicable), so that they can provide us with 'services'.

Meanwhile, the public services continue to be sold off and privatised, while the amount of tax the general public pays doesn't really recede to reflect this.

It's just a blatant, transparent burglary. If you stole this amount of money in a robbery, you'd never see the light of day again if you got caught. If you've been to the right schools and have the right ties, though, it's openly encouraged.

See...I knew one of you clever dicks could summarise it much better than I ever could.

I hadn't seen this yesterday, but it's hardly surprising. Remember as well, this is the Daily Torygraph reporting on this; the newspaper most likely to blindly support any privatisation:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-ma...Osbornes-friend.html
Hedge fund investing in Royal Mail employs George Osborne's friend

A hedge fund that employs one of George Osborne's closest friends and best man is among the City institutions set to make millions from the privatisation of Royal Mail

More than 40,000 people who tried to buy shares in the privatisation have received nothing at all. By contrast City institutions were able to buy two thirds of the newly privatised company.

Lansdowne Partners, one of the world's biggest hedge funds, has invested in Royal Mail and is said to have a £50million stake in the company. After a day of frantic trading the value of its shares has risen by £18million.

Peter Davies, Lansdowne's co-head of developed markets strategy and a member of the hedge fund's management committee, has been friends with the Chancellor since they met at Oxford University.

Mr Osborne chose Mr Davies to be his best man when he married Frances Howell in 1998 at St Margaret's Church, next to Westminster Abbey.

Use Propaganda to get away with Violence in order to control people and steal resources.
In this case the propaganda is that it's ok to use Violence to create a State Postal System (common good and all) .
They build it up using stolen money (taxation etc).
Claim that it's now in the "common" good to sell it of, (while stealing even more money in the process).
If anyone has a problem claim it's the fault of markets rather that your violent monopoly that is the cause, most people can't form their own opinions and almost everyone wants to be owned.

Same old same old. This is what happened in Thatcher's heyday. Assets were sold off. The public were given the option to buy in and invest in their futures. It was sold as a great step forward for the working man and woman. The ability to become shareholders in some essential service. Many many did. They quickly see their shares rise and invariably sell at a profit. Ofc it's the financial institutions that then hoover those shares up. Until they have total control.

I guarantee that quite a few working class folk will make a tidy little short term profit in the initial share price surge. So they will neither care nor notice that the banksters have taken control of a public asset. The banksters don't care if they have to pay an extra quid a share. They just want ultimate control of the profit.

Then those working class short term profits will be swallowed as prices rise....

My mate has a pretty decent job with the Mail..... just has to wait for a machine to break & the rest of the time can just fuck about watching films or going on the internet.
Now he's worried that such inefficiency is about to get swept away.... they'll have him sorting post in no time!

I actually get annoyed about this one.

Where was the public vote on priavisting the Royal Mail?

Well at least now we can say with confidence those 'demand' letters were lost in the post

The public (idiots) voted for politicians to run things for them, and everyone else.

I don't think there is a vote, just a mob who votes for other people to do this stuff.
