Hei all!

I was wondering, is there some decent alternative video hosting site similar to youtube? Something not owned by google or some other huge ripoff company and who host stuff for free etc.

I was just thinking this because that day when google goes so fucked up I quit using any of their services is drawing closer for sure.. And when that day arrives i want to have a good alternative for my drumming + other videos... Maybe if I could find a good site for this, I could upload stuff already and start to do little promotion about it...

+1 for vemio but it can only be used to present original work you can't host clips from TV shows or news channels etc. But for hosting your own creations it's bloody great. If you're not promoting a business or selling stuff in the content they offer a basic free account.

Hmm... I wonder where do covers of songs drop to? The song is copyrighted to somebody else ofcourse, but the performance isn't....

Edit: Vimeo is moderated so if you post against the rules it will be pulled off the site. The community is pretty active from what I have seen and people are willing to give constructive criticisms without being trolls. They also have a learning type center with tips about video production etc.

If you're serious about video editing then check out www.lightworksbeta.com/ it's a professional video suite. It was used to produce Shutter Island as an example of the type of projects that can be done using it.

I suppose you could use a Photobucket account to host videos which may be outside Vimeo's ToS that you may want to post to boards or other sites.

Hmm... Maybe I will have to send them e-mail and ask would it be ok... I think it might, because I'm not using any of the material for financial gain, and these videos are covers/tributes to the original composers/performers. And I think my drumming videos can be counted as "fair use" of the songs..

So vimeo are quite strict not to host any copyrighted material?

I'd like to see a vid or hear you drum Hex. Have you anything available on the net? Thanks.
