I wouldn't be so bold as to post this in have a laugh, not everyone finds this game entertaining.

Scrupular questions thread, like the ones they had on the fairly well known cigarette papers.

Like This:

Your child has just come back from school with a note about a trip next week. It's not of vital import to their edummyication systemics but you know they will enjoy it. There is a charge of £$*!22.73 and a half percent to cover the costs of the teacher's wine and nanoburgers.

You yourself have pre-ordered a quarter of bubblegum cheese that will be ready for imbibication in 2 days. The charge of £$!.35.24 and an eighth percent leaves you looking at your chip and realising you don't have enough fiatcoin to cover both the trip and the homage to good old Mother N.

Do you?

A- Raise first one then the other brow before starting on an eloquent and passionate rant that, "Wool museums are just memorials to the persecution of the early industrialist slaves and subsequent picnicary would represent support for the oppression of the wool covered massive"?

B- Say, "I'll have to check that this month's installment on the finance for your BMX has been ratified through the benefactors :notworthy: ", have a word with yourself, run the computations and then interrupt their enjoyment of:
internetpornfor11yearolds.jointhecampaigntodemonizetheweb@DavidCameronisanobvioustechnotator butIjustlovebeingtoldwhattobyalphaspassthesoma.com

by announcing that the benefactors :notworthy: have permitted you to pay the wineburger tax but that any chance of some spending fiat is about as likely as the outbreak of flaseflagvirus being contained any time soon! Then ring your contact and say "actually a teenf will do, I've decided to detox you know man, I think the curries are getting to me."

C- Immediately look up from the note and say, "Wow sondaughter#17, that's gonna be awesome! Do you think they'll have anywhere to get an ice-cream or two?"

I remember being disappointed that this thread didn't get going. Having just dug it up and had a look the OP, I can kind of see why. Boy I must have had a few too many hubbly bubbly's when I wrote it :emb: Any way, I do think it's worth revisiting it without the waffle so I'll um rephrase the question

Your child has just come back from school with a note about a trip next week. It's not important to their education but you know they will enjoy it. There is a charge of £22.

You yourself have pre-ordered something that whilst not vital, will help the smooth running of your head space. You've agreed a deal with a price of £35. You realise that you don't have enough money to cover both the trip and honour the order you've made.

Do you?

A- Say, "sorry but I just don't have the money to pay for the trip"

B- Say, " I can just about afford to cover the cost of the trip but I can't give you any spending money", then phone the person you arranged the deal with and say ,"Sorry but I can only afford to pay you half what I agreed this week, can I either square up next week or half my order?

C- Say, "Wow that's gonna be awesome! Do you think they'll have anywhere to get an ice-cream or two?"

C. The child comes first. I can only have anything if and when her needs have been seen to (my own rule... dunno why I made it though).

Now, if you'd used the word "husband/partner/family member/friend"... the answer would have been VERY different :emb:
There is no such thing as Thin Air: Thin Air is full of the particles of creation.

Take something that costs you nothing but effort;
And practice, practice, practice until you make it something fabulous.

I'd have a crack at B, but with C always in mind :D

Although, if I actually had a kid I'd probably just go straight for C.

Interesting question - a childs needs would come before my own so I guess either b or c - I like to honour commitments I have made - also would try to 'find' the money for both somehow.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

D - you write the school a cheque for the full amount and give it to them the day before the trip. Then you cancel the cheque :D
