i just wiped nearly a page of info off here .
to understand why people put on weight understand about
carbs
fats
protiens

forget minerals and vitamins

carbs are sugars
fats are fats
protiens have a guess

faddy diets or nutritional information pops up every year to sell something to someone
and they have research to prove it ,
well thats the claim ,
check out calorie intake vs output

I managed to lose weight and keep it off.....wait for it......by eating normal food, but less of it!

Who would have thought it? I didn't need to buy anything expensive, join an expensive gym or take supplements etc. I just ate less and cut back on junk food. I am not hungry and the way I eat is totally sustainable.

:righton: , its not rocket surgery .

anyone wanting to create a new diet does a few things with the given facts ,
they tell half the story basically because dieters or keep fit people are only part of the equation theres a mass market out there made up of part time fitness fanatics and yummy mummies wanting to be doing the right thing or "the latest thing " to be precise .

eat 4000 calories worth of spinach and youre body doesnt care if its chocolate ,
long chain carbs are ok but in perspective used as a fuel they are essential or you will get headaches feel run down lose concentration etc ,
knowing how much fuel you require is the magic bit general guidelines are just that listen to what your body tells you .

if you only last until 11am on a bowl of cereal and coffee then add a bit of toast or more cereal that way you avoid getting hungry later and attacking the snacks full of fats ,
hell im not going to preach to you you did it ffs what i can tell you that you dont know .

People mess themselves up with faddy diets. Anything that you can't sustain long term is no good imo.

Also, trying to reach and then sustain a weight that is too low for you, although it's usually women who are guilty of that one.

A friend of mine is trying to lose weight and she is skipping breakfast. She gets hungry and has a massive lunch and dinner and eats more in a day than she would have done if she has just had some breakfast. Still, she is convinced that it will work

I also think that different people get on with different foods.

I know a few folks who have done the Atkins and have lost large amounts of weight and kept it off. A family member just lost 40 lbs. and I tried it to lose 15 lbs. I was inspired by them and it was quite easy to do. I now pretty much eat very low carb diet because I feel much better.
