I don't think "Super Jumbo Massive Coronary Aneurysm Thrombosis" sized food/drinks should be banned but I do think that the food service industry should take it upon themselves (in a show of responsibility and good faith) to maybe stop pushing that line of products with so much fervor. That stuff could still be available for people willing to ruin their health but they could maybe ease up on the 24/7 commercials about how you can "Super-quadruple size your shit for only $0.59!!! That's Fifty-nine cents, hurry now while this offer is valid, void if you care about your body and have the slightest shred of self-respect...."
It's 2012, people know very well that they can purchase enough food in one upgraded fast-food meal to last a family of four for two fuckin days, they don't need commercials, offers, coupons and billboard advertising driving that fact home! That's my two Lincolns.
You're as right as you are hilarious, Phem.

The fast food and soda industries could relax the constant advertisement shelling of public minds. What I wonder is if it may have been suggested/requested before? A quick internet search didn't turn anything like that up. Had that been the case, and they didn't comply, I could understand the choice to want to ban the large sodas. It might also be a case of reverse psychology, as a lot of news publications are spinning this in a big brother-ish manner. Typically when people are told not to do something, they want to do it. Who knows, maybe Bloomberg has a deal with Coke or Pepsi?

people, say what you want, but this is one of the few good decisions the us govt has made.
people are stupid and have no idea how bad sugary drinks are for your health.
look at the obesity rates in usa, or even worldwide by now.
sugary drinks are the number one fatmaker, if you know how a body works, you should know this.
this will indirectly extend peoples lifes there.
i dont care what anyone says, if a person is obese most of them arent happy about life at all.
ofc this is avoidable, people can just buy 5 smaller units and become just as fat.
comeon, so manykids already fat these days, if you think thats fine, oh well.
You're correct, Hada. Obesity is spreading along with western influence. I do agree that it can be a sign of unhappiness in some people, as they don't feel motivated to keep themselves healthy. Other people don't really have much of a choice, as a lot of the affordable foods and drinks are saturated with processed materials, preservatives, and artificial sweeteners. It shows that the producers of those products are looking to cut corners, rather than keeping repeat healthy customers. Logically then, it's either by design, or their business approach needs some serious reworking.
