I think I've made my stance on this one fairly clear but in case...

All freedoms come with responsibility, the minute we shirk those responsibilities is the minute we give the potential for "authority" to step in. You should be able to say what you want, I'm not for banning words, but that doesn't mean saying what you want to whoever you want whenever you want.

We are free to be naked, that doesn't mean we are free to do the school run in the buff.

Yes, absolutely. Rights come with responsibilities. If we were to forget that, society would degenerate into an unholy mess (or rather, an even unholier mess!). It's imperative, IMHO, that we "do as we would be done by" - treat others as we would like to be treated, and "love our neighbour as ourselves".

Why, when I read this, did I think, "Hmm, just as Facebook gets floated on the Stock Exchange for $100 billion", and "Any publicity is good publicity"... am I getting too cynical?

:aargh:
There is no such thing as Thin Air: Thin Air is full of the particles of creation.

Take something that costs you nothing but effort;
And practice, practice, practice until you make it something fabulous.

Alas, cantata, when it comes to big business making big bucks, I don't think it's possible to be too cynical these days! :pissed:

To paraphrase, Mandy suggests that a bit of R&R for us all would be no bad thing ;)

And another bug bear of mine with freedom of speech is when people demand the freedom of speech to oppose another freedom. To demand a freedom to oppose a freedom is somewhat paradoxical to my mind.

Rights come with responsibilities for sure but they also often come with repercussions.
The exercising of you rights should take all of these factors into account.

Almost every right that we have now had to be, (often literally), fought for.
They were not handed out magnanimously at xmas.
IMO they have to be treated as valuable possessions, employed in considered ways so that we don't create excuses for them being rescinded.

Easily done ....
  1. Just hit print screen key, (sometimes PRN SCRN) on your keyboard
  2. Open Paint program.
  3. Go to Edit in Paint and select Paste
  4. Then File and select Save As
  5. Name it and save it.
