IMHO you'd use 13500 troops to close off London.

Did I read something about erecting a wall around London? I can't quite remember.

13,500 troops is a hell of a lot.

You don't bring back 13,500 troops to just police the olympics....

Nope...

@ daavvviidd, have you any suggestions as to why this amount would be required? :norty:

Ok so I don't know the details but ill hazard a guess.

First of all the winter Olympics in Vancouver or where ever it was had a very substantial presence of UK police, intelligence , military to liaise and learn from what the canucks did.Now I would imagine they did have personel on the ground in Bejing observing the Chinese but im not sure about that. But deffo Vancouver as I know somebody who was there.

Now 13.5k is not a lot of troops, may sound a lot but you would easily lose them in Catford/lewisham. Its not as though they will be on duty all at the same time, and a quick reaction force in several locations will be on standby.

There will be several security rings, including non military personnel ie private dog units. Try phoning a company for a dog unit during the summer.

Now are 13.5k just for the Olympic stadium or for all the facilities including accommodation and training facilities around the country. ?

13.5K WILL not seal of London, London is 25 miles across and has thousands upon thousands of exits. Just look at the numbers for Stalingrad, Baghdad or Kabul etc.

Don't forget there are all ready troops in London, Guards brigades, SAS, fuck me under Whitehall is a huge command and comms center.

Does not worry me in the slightest that there is a deployment like this. I would imagine some type of armour on standby as well.

Im not going , don't give a fuck about the Olympics, boring drug cheating bastards :P

A little perspective there have been over a 1000 police on duty for millwall v westham game :axe:

Yep armor plus 13500 is plenty enough.

Im only going on whats being said here. 13.5k troops. Then every copper in the met and reserves brought in.
Then the likes of G4s and private security.

Then security teams from the nations taking part for CP close protection.

The wording " for the olympics " is a bit of a red herring as everybody is thinking of the stadium.
Now security .....
Think living quarters, think practice facilities around the UK, think actual event locations besides the olympic stadium, think VIP protection, think 24/7.

Now think what if an incident occured, hospital security ie cordon it off ,LZ for helicopters secured to bring casualties in, blocking routes off for free transit of emergency vehicles to and from the scene of an incident.

The list is fucking enormous tbh and ive only scratched the surface.

Luckily enough I'm actually doing a threat assessment atm for something, lets say 3 men need protection in a large capitol city. Ive to recon routes, do inventories in hospitals to see what kit they have for emergency ops, what areas need securing in the hospitol, routes in and out, choke points, staff vetting, ie who will operate if necessary that means background checks. What vehicles to use to transport the men, emergency kit to be placed in the vehicle ie defibs, IVs, oxygen etc etc, comms any dead zones, local militia friendly or hostile, weapons for the men, types of body armour, :bla: :bla: :bla:

So you see its a fucking massive operation just for 3 men. I will need for 24/7 protection nearly 200 men !!!
