So Cameron and co. have decided to bring in an axe man of their own to carve up the Poliss and make it ready for the privatisation and the introduction of Officer Haliburton (see story on front page)
Anger over choice for top police job
The Home Office has prompted fresh outrage from the body representing rank and file police officers by announcing that Tom Winsor, the former rail regulator, is its preferred candidate to be the chief inspector of constabulary.

Mr Winsor, a lawyer, is already a controversial figure in policing since he published a report suggesting a total overhaul of police pay and conditions, including the abolition of many allowances and special payments and the introduction of annual fitness tests.

Having never been a copper and having a history of Railtrak mismanagement, he is obviously the right man for the job :roll:

As much as I'm not a fan of a large percentage of what the 50 do. The notion of Private firms taking their place is even worse.

How on Earth could anyone think that drafting this bloke in to the top of the 50 food chain is in any way going to help anyone other than the corporations? Chop chop carve carve slice slice, next thing you know McDonalds will be putting you in custody for eating KFC

A few comments from top coppers
The Police Federation, which represents rank-and-file officers, said that "if ever there was a need for sagacious advice from someone with a profound understanding of policing it is now".
Paul McKeever, the federation's chairman, said: "We warned the home secretary there would be riots, crime would rise and that 20% cuts would have a detrimental effect on the policing front line, putting public safety at risk, and we were called scaremongers.

From watching an interview with a police spokesperson, I got a sense of desperation: the list of reforms this lacky has proposed is identical to Camerons hack and slash proposals.

Its the way things are going now. If governments now sell their assets, it is more difficult for future governments to get them back, assuming they werent puppets for corporations one day....which is what they are now.

Which group have the Con-Dems not lashed into (apart from the Rich, Famous and Royal)? First thing they did on "entering power" was cut the legs from under the disabled and disadvantaged (including special needs children). Then doctors, nurses, pensioners, unemployed, parents, householders, teachers, yada yada. And police too.
