Many things, but let me try to express this in terms of the martial mind, you may relate to that better, as to a understanding of enlightenment.
Flexibility of mind bending but not breaking, the type of person who can avoid problems or battles, one who feel's out thing's before randomly acting, many thing's are classified as making a individual more enlightened, and for the understanding of ourselves in more of a cosmic sense, and not so much as just physical being's that react to outside stimulus.More of a ability to look within and understand why we react
We may grow in this area, but most likely we will become so technically advanced and high and mighty, we will destroy ourselves first, before peace and harmony of mind with each other on this planet can happen, as which I believe some ancient civilizations have done in ages past, destroying themselves
