Did anyone else do this with their wee ones?

Rather than get my children's noses all sore from using tissues when they had colds as babies, I used to get my gob round their nose and suck all the snot out. Then I spat it into a tissue or the toilet or on the grass.
Not once did my boys suffer from sore, red tissue nose

Anyone else?
