He's a fantastic dog, looks after us very well and it so intelligent.

Both those breeds are favourites of mine so the combination of the two is perfect!

I miss our old German Shepherd and would not mind another one.

I would like a Husky or a Lab, too. I would also like a fox or a wolf. Okay I want all the animals as pets. :heart1:

Alsatians. Fabulous dogs. I had them all my childhood and they are wonderful. I've since had a retriever (fantastic dog, too) and now a Springer Spaniel (wouldn't have another, ever), but nothing touches the Alsatian. Sadly, their "fault" is that they don't lkive very long - said to be about 12 years but in reality about 7-10 years. :(

:thumbup: All the best people are lucky enough to have Alsatians in their 'pack'. :thumbup:

One of the strangely positive and most out of character things that my wayward father ever did was to rescue ours from someone who was kicking the crap out of her. He literally just strolled up to him, punched him and took the dog.

She was the best dog ever and extremely loving.

I'm usually all :coffee: when it comes to pets cos of my allergies, but I have a soft spot for these. Hope you get the one you're after. :up:

Had a chow for years until she died. Then decided that if I got another dog, I wanted one capable of being very vicious... we got a half pitbull half mutt. While she's still basically a puppy, she has assumed the "protective" nature I was looking for and I am sure she could rip someone to shreds even now if needed. She even believes she owns the road in front of our house, and when a stranger walks in, she sits by my son and snarls at them :D
I came into this world kicking and screaming while covered in someone elses blood
and I have no problem with going out the same way :twisted:

first dog that bit me was a sausage dog ..........thing was unhinged and was put down about 2 months later because it bit everyone even his owners

second dog that bit me was also a sausage dog, Nasty ankle bite

third dog that bit me was a jack russel terrier

fourth dog that bit me was a collie, not a black and white sheep dog collie but a stupid looking brown and white small thing. Bit me
on on my thigh , my leg was bruised for weeks

Chased, on two separate occassions by Alastians ........they are scarey! One jumped on my friend knocked him to the ground and broke his collar bone then started biting his throat

I blame the owners though not the dogs

I'd have a red setter , or a border collie

@ dawny and bats - I'm sorry to have heard you were ever gone after by Alsatians. You're right to blame the owners. These are dogs that know they must herd AND guard, their owners and their owner's livestock. Where they come from, they know they must live actually among sheep and lambs and children and people, whether during the day or night; but they must also take down wolves and thieves and crazies - dying in the process, if they have to. They just need their owner to let them know "who is the enemy, and who is not".

Witness them as completely trusted, loved and competent Guide Dogs For The Blind when looking for people who know how to teach them that.
