Welcome to my world.

My daughter is 12. It's going to be some ride.

Mine are both blonde haired and blue eyed.... a rarity in Greece. In 10 years or so my doorbell is gonna be worn out!

You got that right :spliff:

Mines blonde with green eyes... according to ab's I have spawned a erm... can't quite recall what it was he said... I'm sure he'll jump in and help me out :D

But yes... you're going to have a ride also. I'd move if I where you. Seriously.

My sister is blonde and blue-eyed - I remember when she went with my Dad and step-mum to Italy she attracted an awful lot of attention! :D

Mandy

Great!

Thanks for that!

I should have added that although my young sis attracted a lot of attention, no-one actually tried anything on! I'm sure everything will be fine!

Don't worry oi, I get the same kind of attention from greek men. I think it's my red beard and striking resemblance to Ronald McDonald that really does it for them. I'm unique, see? I can assure though, no greek man has ever touched me.

Teach her to punch the throat when/if needed. A punch or knee to the groin may not always work. A punch to the forehead knocks 'em silly for a moment allowing a head start - especially if their drunk. Punch the hose upward, not straight on - they can fight through a broken nose; punching upward may knock some cartilage into the brain cavity causing serious or fatal damage. Don't worry, the law sides on young girls, so long as their story's straight.

Still, a throat punch is pretty much an easy and unexpected hit; they always think we'll go for the groin.

Sorry, I was raised and lived in the city for a long time and actually punched a couple of bums in the forehead when trying to jack my car at red lights, both on Sunday mornings - thank God they were drunker than drunk. Oh, and those few guys who decided to pop out from around building corners, too. One of them I knocked to the ground with a full, unopened can of soda: they're like bricks, those sodas.

I'm not trying to be mean, but all girls need to know these things to do the best they can to temporarily disable to offer enough time to get away.

Also, yell like a banshee. They hate that.

And when they slow down the car and open the door and command, "Get in b**ch", simply run toward the car combat style, shouting very bad words. They'll think she is crazy, but will speed away - which is the point.

*embarrassed with the reality*

The most recent 'event' was when I was going to the bread store one afternoon (technically, late morning). It was hot and my driver window was half rolled down.

I was caught at a stop sign and some guy walked in the direction of my truck shouting something. I thought he was talking to someone else so I looked around. I looked back at him and he was definitely looking at, and coming toward me. WTF? I'm just sitting at a stop sign waiting for traffic to clear to turn left.

Traffic wasn't clearing and he kept on walkin' towards me. Crap. A few feet from my truck I went in a crazy type of red alert mode: a fight or flight thing - Tampa flashbacks. My left hand gripped the wheel, my feet steadied upon the pedals, I readied my right arm for possible measures. (Poor composition as my right hand would have had to take the time and energy to cross my body.)

Luckily, traffic cleared just enough for me to whip around the corner - a coward? - I still wrestle with that. I could lean on my gender, but that would be lame. Yet..... :conf:

I didn't want to go to the store anymore, I was scared. I argued with myself that I was damn well going to the store and no one was going to stop me from buying bread. I came so close to going back to the office, but a part of me was damned if I did. This was last year. This happened in Temple, TX, in the 'goot part o'town' during the 11 o'clock hour, my lunch time.

I'm getting too old for this shtuff. I wanna go live on a tall hill and be independently wealthy.

We'd all like to do this coco but as most of us can't and situtations as you've described above will continue to happen... I think you're doing great at being on the ball for when they arise. Ready for anything by the sounds of it. And far from too old! That's all good from my perspective. :rose:

"Tampa flasbacks". :chuckle:

I like that. I get "Southall flashbacks" all the time, and they never fail to disappoint in terms of preparing for combat. :bat:

I just want to say a big thanks to everyone who's responded.....especially Frog for wanting to help out should a crisis occur.

I also want to update you all as I got a call from her last night and a text today. She's loving it apparently and I even spoke to this bloke last night. I just told her to put him on the phone...lol. Anyway I told him we're a mafia family and he better take care of my girl or else (I was half-joking of course, but I think he got the message haha). Anyway there's a few people there and more were arriving today so I felt a bit of relief after that.

I also want to say thanks for the laugh I've had at some of the posts. It's really cheered me up as you are all a very well meaning but mad bunch. Love ya all! :) :D
