tut, tut, tut. You know, irrie - you don't have to buy special crystals. In your own area there will be "relevant stones". Every place has an atmosphere that can bring people certain troubles or illnesses, and that area will have "developed" stones with the right energies.

In Suffolk, the air is cold, wet and very heavy which led to people suffering from diseases like tuberculosis and pleuresy - and what is a prolific stone in that area? Flint, which is said to guard the pulmonary system among other things. In Jersey, C.I., a small island that could be vulnerable, it has granite everywhere - granite is said to bring strength and courage as well as to protect...

...have a look in your own back-yard! :)

At base - white and pale stones will bring "heartening qualities and black or dark stones will help with the release of negativity. Look at the stones and find one you like and feel drawn to - that's the stone "speaking to you". :D

I'll maybe have a hunt around, not in my actual back garden though. The only stones there are cheap things some rip off gardener put down years ago :D

The council dug the whole garden up as well a few years back with a JCB.

I'll have to focus my mind... :emb: or do you focus your intuition when looking for stones?

I think too much :D

When looking for something I find the best thing to do is not look for anything.

I refer the honourable irre to the well know spiritual tome know as Star Wars. With particular attention to the section on the Millenium Falcon where Obi Wan is giving Luke his early introduction to the force, with 3 tools. The light sabre, the floaty shooty orb thinggy and the helmet. :)

Irrie, if you're looking for stones in your back garden, with a blind-fold on, a floaty thing :bunny2: , and a shiny-stick in your hand......

it could end in trouble.

So I should reach out with my feelings dub? :D

I'm feeling centred again actually, all calm and that, so maybe it's a good time to go wandering, see if any stones speak to me :)

It might have been some magical shop that disappeared after you bought the stones...okay my imagination was working overtime a bit then :emb: :D

I've got some Granite and what I believe to be Limestone right next to me on my DVD stand.

Hmmmm, I dunno really. I know that where I lived in Northamptonshire (Woodford Halse, Little Preston, Blakesley) and around Towcester, we found hundreds of sea-fossils lying on the ground, because Northants was under the sea and, to my mind, it still has a strong "coastal feel" to it. Fossils have metaphysical properties:

Fossils can help increase accomplishments in the area of business and add excellence to one's environment. They also aid one in being open to change and new ideas. Traditionally, fossils have been used to aid in curing diseases and ailments of the skeletal system, bones, hands, and feet.

Actually, everything natural has some kind of energy to give out. You just have to "feel your way", as the song sez. :D

I dunno what Leamington's stone is? :conf: Just ordinary garden stones, smooth, very many colours and patterns. So, if I was going to use them, I'd go with the colour I feel I need most.

You wash them. You "charge them" (simply hold them in your hand and ask for the help you need with....) and then you place them on the body as you see fit (some people use chakras, some lay them on the site that needs healing, some lay them in circles around the person) and then you give them time. When you've finished, you wash them again and put them somewhere to "recharge".

Alternatively, the person can carry them about with them all the time, washing them regularly to get rid of the negativities they have absorbed from that person.

:)

As for Leamington's stones - well, there will be sandstone (coz that's everywhere!):

Sandstone
Sandstone is conducive to building and strengthening relationships and/or groups. Faclititates movement and change with ease. Encourages truth and the ability to see clearly. Reveals that which is hidden, promotes clarity in thought and sight. Balances our reality.

Chakras:
Astrological sign: Gemini

and marble!

p.s. jhadoooooo, other crystals that healers use for bones are these:

FOR BONES:

Blue Calcite - Calming Blue Calcite soothes frayed nerves, eases pain, and lessens anxieties. A good stone to use when recuperating, Blue Calcite facilitates physical healing by clearing negative emotions and encouraging rest and relaxation. Calcite has been associated with the bones and joints, and balances the amount of calcium in the body. (The Throat Chakra stimulation associated with Blue Calcite will also assist with the Thyroid issues).

Green Calcite - Calcite has been associated with the bones and joints, and balances the amount of calcium in the body. Rigid old ideas can manifest as bone issues in the body, thus Green Calcite is useful for bone, ligament, and joint issues. Helpful for reaching mental balance, Green Calcite stimulates the immune system and helps dissolve old energy patterns and beliefs that may be holding you back.

Apatite - A stone of manifestation, Apatite heals bones and encourages formation of new cells.

Pyrite - Pyrite treats bones and stimulates cell formation. Pyrite Cubes consolidate energy, creating a foundation for intention and grounding. Pyrite can also transmute negative energy.

Garnet - Garnet is a powerfully energizing and regenerative stone that is also good for the blood and for stimulating metabolism.
There is no such thing as Thin Air: Thin Air is full of the particles of creation.

Take something that costs you nothing but effort;
And practice, practice, practice until you make it something fabulous.

I've always wondered about the more "mundane" stones. I have one my dad gave me when I was a child. He found it on a construction site and it had a perfect hole though it. I put a cord through the hole and it became like my security blanket. I would sleep with it in my hand if I was scared. I could swear it felt like it was pulsing sometimes...like a heart. :beat:

Cool thread! I love stones & crystals! My mom calls me a rock hoarder! :silly:

Hi K-Bone. Those stones are called Hag Stones or Crones Stones and represent the Goddess Gaia in her "Wise Mother" form - the old woman. Some people were affected by Christianity and persuaded that the goddess was an evil witch, so they called such stones Holey Stones and used them for protection from her and all evil. Here's a little info about them:

A naturally holed stone, or holey stone, is any rock that has a hole through it created by nature alone. The special sculpting powers of wind and water create the opening in a stone over a great amount of time. Ancient humans found such stones and strung smaller varieties as bead jewelery, which may indeed have led to the art of bead making. Modern day humans with high Earth energy attraction are drawn to these stones and may find them often.

In the metaphysical realm, holey stones are sacred to Wiccans and Pagans. The opening in the stone is a symbol for the Sacred Womb of the Earth. Also known as the "Witches Amulet", it is the most powerful protection amulet for the witch because it IS the presence of the Goddess Herself; and a triple holed stone would be most sacred of all. A holey stone may also be used for Full Moon magic by gazing at the moon through the hole and speaking a need to the Gods. When strung with a red string or ribbon and hung over the bed it acts as a shield against bad dreams; called the Witches Dream Shield,

It's also claimed that if you look through the hole, you might see the fairy and otherworld realms.

I found some lovely hag stones on the stony shore of Old Felixstowe.... but only in the first four groyne bays, never further along. :conf:

Great info, cantata! I didn't know any of that! I don't know if the hole is man made or natural. Funny thing, though; in middle school I checked out a book(The Silver Horse) that had an illustration of a stone that looked almost exactly like mine! I'll have to see if I can get a copy of it and a photo of my rock to post. :D

Man, I'd love to see some fairies :pixie: ...maybe I should eat some shrooms before I look through the hole! :spliff:
