I have been known to cook on an open fire, but frankly, these days when camping, I tend to use an excellently sturdy portable BBQ, a 2 ring camping cooker with grill, and a separate 1 ring burner for the kettle. I quite like those little Cobb stoves, but I think they're over-priced...

A lot of sites over here don't let you have open fires, btw - you normally can on beaches if you're camping next to one, but sometimes it's prohibited.
