No I am not in for a rude awakening.....first you can't spell El Hierro, second it isn't even an island...it's still forming, third you are talking about Cumbre Vieja on La Palma.

And you got the elevation wrong it's 600ft AT THE VERY WORST which is also highly unlikely seeing as that would need twice the ammount of Cumbre Vieja to collapse into the sea, which it wont as the fault there isn't big enough...

Also work out your ordenance for the UK...It's not so much the height it's the volume of water if it's even 300ft....that volume of water will travel approximately 100 miles inland at the south coast....did you know that no matter where you are in the UK, you can reach coastline within 75 miles......have a look at some OS maps for the South coast, and have a look at how much land there is over 600ft....not a lot. So yeah...the South coast going directly north for 100 miles or so are screwed.....but ONLY IF Cumbre Vieja decides to collapse....and guess what...there will be plenty of warning if it does.

So you see, I might be a Welsh girl....but I sure as hell don't need to go running up the Snowdonia mountain ranges, and definately not much further north than the Watford Gap! :D

Add to that I'm an accomplished sailor and have a 23ft boat....how are you kitted out numpty?
