I'm back. Lots going on in the world. In fact, I honestly can't remember a time when there were so many massively significant stories happening at such a fast pace. It's as if the totalitarian tiptoe (thank you Mr Icke) has become an olympian sprint to the finishing tape. The mass media in the UK is quite unbelievable in it's blatant pushing for war, but from the reader's comments many people have long seen through the lies. The spread of the police state continues on a daily basis. The young man arrested for tweeting an offensive line at the olympic gymnast. The incredibly over the top siege in the USA where a woman was trying to defend her daughter against forced medication. Imprisonment for colecting rainwater. And more, and more, and more. Every day. Yet, still there are those who won't accept that this is happening and parts of this forum read like "Carry on Comrade" rather than a forum that is working to expose lies and encourage truth.

As for my leaving, Steevo wrote that he fully understood. And he did. Good man that Steevo. :)

I probably learned more about the underlying dynamics of this forum through leaving than I would have done if I'd posted here for months. I was pleased to see that some of the threads I started were continued so productively. Thanks to all who contributed and I'll read through the comments with interest. I have lots more to add. Thank you to the moderators here. I didn't know much about you when I registered here, but I like what I see. I know it's a very difficult task to keep a forum healthy and productive and your efforts are appreciated.

I'm very glad to see you back, Anthony, though I don't think the above was strictly necessary. It is your opinion, but I don't agree. There is much light-heartedness and banter on here and it is one of the reasons why I keep coming back.

Things can get a bit doom and gloom without it and you really only have to look at other forums to see that. Personally, I think it is what makes us so special. As to the lack of more meatier subjects - get posting!

Hello Abs. Banter is fine, fun is fine, humour is great, but there has to be a balance. I personally think the balance is tipped too far in the direction of Carry On, but it's just my opinion. Intentionally light hearted sections are there to lift people's spirits and some of the sections of the forum are very constructive, but I feel that "Today's News" currently feels neutered by wise guys, skeptics and people with an agenda to the point where very little positive is being discussed.

The Colorado shooting is one of the few stories being discussed, but was basically sidelined before it had even begun. This story is massive and there are many blogs and other websites that have taken this story a long way in a short time. Maybe this forum hasn't got the number of users to keep a Today's News section going, but right now I would look for news and discussions elsewhere. Again, just my feedback and others might feel differently. I just find it a shame when we have some great posters here that get shot down in flames when they try to think out of the mainstream box.

Welcome back Anthony, I can only suggest you chip in really. Everyone here has differing views and experience. On the whole I think this place works well in that when people do chip in respectfully, those differing viewpoints come together well to present a bigger picture. It certainly works far better than some other places on the tinterweb.

I find a great many posts here interesting, including yours, which I'd normally be in there debating (though I've never been particularly intellectual). It's just that at the moment my head's a bit cabbage-like, so apart from the light-hearted stuff, I don't trust myself to contribute much and make sense. :emb:

I'm still taking things in though, and glad of the opportunity to do that.

My experience is that you have to try to retain a realistic perspective.
Yep, for sure, there's some bad shit going on out in the world but there always has been.
If you immerse yourself in that you can easily lose track of life's positives and forget to enjoy them.

The end result is that nothing much changes except you ............. for the worse.
Think global, act local.
Local begins in you.
Dare to enjoy your life and infect others with that joy.
