Seeds are all well and good...finding seeds that have not been genetically modified is another thing though. I got a whole bunch of organic seeds from the market, planted a few (more than a few, like 10 packets) of them and nothing have grown from them seeds. I have better luck taking seeds out of fruit/vegetables that I buy at the market and planting those with a few things.

I recommend people find heirloom seeds, from farmers that have been growing for 20+ years... buy seeds you know will grow plants that will produce seeds to keep and replant from.

depends whether you are bugging IN or Bugging out. you need a stock of food to last the duration or at least "until the dust settles", probably 6 to 12 months worth PER PERSON, and enough water to last you until you can find an alternative safe supply-probably about 3 months worth. I know there are people out there who thing it'll all be over and back to "business as usual" within 6-8 weeks but I'm not one of them.

If the infrastructure really did break down including the water system and sewerage system diseases would most likely be one of your enemies.

Many people probably think that cadavers would be a major way diseases would spread but i suspect the problem would be diseases caused from lack of sanitation.

All weapons are ineffective against this so you might want to invest in matching bio hazard suits if the shit hits the fan literally.

Obviously you would be at risk from creatures with diseases such as typhoid which could be carried by rats,fleas and lice.

This would be if the infrastructure collapsed for a long period of time of course.

depends where you are and what the population is, in a large city disease would be a real killer. dead bodies not so much, if they all died indoors with windows and doors shut this would contain a lot of the problems associated with unburied dead .
