It wasn't a single minded US endeavor either... The Russians took their share of SS scientists as well. Hence the reason both super nations were the first to have space programs, and nuclear weapons programs.

They didn't need to, the foundational ideologies, the military organizations and industrial power, that gave rise to the 3rd Reich were already firmly entrenched in the UK way before WWII, the UK served as an Ideological channel for Aryanism and Theosophy from India, Medieval Occultism and religious/cultural anti-semitism, not to mention Industrial and Financial wealth.
